Comcast Business Phone Service Problems

Comcast business phone service is down and small businesses are freaking out 2 years Comcast’s business phone service seems to be having a huge nationwide outage. While the company acknowledged that some customers may be experiencing problems with phone service, the issue seems to be pretty widespread, with reported outages in dozens of cities across the country.

Apparently inbound and outbound calls are either not being completed at all, or are met with a recording saying the number is no longer in service. Comcast has a forum post that says the outage is effecting SMB (small to medium business) voice service only. While some of us may no longer think landlines are necessary, the reality is that they are the lifeblood of millions of small businesses across the country. And those small businesses aren’t happy. Thousands are taking to Twitter, Facebook and Instagram to let their customers know that they are still open during the outage.

While some are non-essential businesses, the outage is also effecting urgent-care locations like local police departments and emergency veterinary hospitals, which are technically set up as small businesses. Typically, most of us are accustomed to the internet going out and landlines being the only reliable way to communicate in an emergency. It seems that today the opposite it true, and people are turning to services like Twitter and Facebook to communicate with their customer base. We’ve reached out to Comcast and will update this post if we get any new information from them.

Comcast business phone service is down and small businesses are ...

NOT for business Ease-of-use Functionality Product Quality Customer Support Value for Money We went to Comcast to save money. Opposite effect! First they fried our phone system by installing their equipment wrong and backfeedng the signal. Then they refused to take responsibility and referred me to their subcontractor. Then it took over a week to get our phones numbers ported over so we had no company phones. Funny things was, all we had to say was that we were trying to switch over to Comcast and everyone was understanding (I guess they already knew how bad Comcast was). That should have chased us of their service butt we decided to stick with it since it was so difficult to switch all communications over.

Now, their equipment had failed and we are waiting for days for a tech. We are a business that is basically shut down without internet and phones. We were told a tech will be here between 10 and 12 today, however, that turned out to be incorrect. The 2 hour windows are for residential customers, business customer windows are actually 4 hours! So the people relying on the service to be reliable for their literal livelihoods are less important! I am posting this via my cell phone - that is how sick and tired I am of Comcast! If you are considering them for your company's service, do so at your own peril! Pros Can't think of one. I can't even say price as they have cost us so muck money with the problems they have caused! Cons Horrible customer service. Total lack of responsibility. These habe been my experiences all the way up to the corporate offices

Comcast had one week to prepare for porting my phone number from AT&T to Comcast/Xfiniity Voice. I had several phone conversations with Comcast reps who called me to clarify details of the switch. When the day for the change came 'round (yesterday)' the whole process was a cluster-F. Numbers they had provided to activate the new installation didn't work. We were first connected to someone who obviously didn't listen: all he was concerned with was Comcast Cable TV which we were not changing nor having problems with. Once he figured that out he said to call such and such number - which was also the wrong customer support number. After several false starts we got the phones working but I noticed throughout the day I was not getting any calls. Twelve hours later, we found out anyone calling the ported number got our voice mail (the old AT & T voice mail!). When I placed calls the person I called didn't recognize the number and didn't answer. It turns out our phone is now assigned a number from Nashville TN - 600 miles away! If someone wants to reach me they can call that Nashville number. If I want to call a local 912- number I have to use the area code since the Comcast system thinks I'm in Nashville, in the 615 area code.
